Summer Olympics For Local Students With Autism August 17

** Update 8/9/12 – The Beacon Day School Summer Olympics has been rescheduled due to the hot weather. The event will now be held on Friday, August 17, 2012.**

Beacon Day School invites the community to cheer for our athletes in The Beacon Day School Summer Olympics on Friday August 10, 2012 at La Palma Central Park, 7821 Walker Street in La Palma, CA.

Opening Ceremony starts at 10 am with Closing Ceremonies/Medal Presentation at 12:30 pm.

Bring a chair and enjoy a beautiful morning outside with lunch available for purchase from the popular food trucks Mike’s Italian Ice and Eat ‘Em Up Truck.

Competitions include running, walking, hurdle and relay races as well as long jump, high jump, and throwing events.

Beacon Day School in La Palma was founded in 2004 and has an exceptional program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disorders.

The program utilizes an integrative approach combining therapies with academic and behavioral interventions.

It is K-12 with transition programs for individuals up to 22 years of age. School districts and families in a wide radius send children to Beacon Day School through IEP recommendations.

Through educational care and behavioral support students are able to maximize their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical abilities.

Participation of parents, families, and the community are essential to enhancing the quality of life for students so they may be productive members of the community.
